The Great Things We Believe

The modern era  has ushered in innovations that have made our lives more comfortable but too often less meaningful. It is impossible to live well without some sense of purpose and meaning. That is what the church and the Bible are all about.

The greatest mystery in the world is that there is one God who exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).

The greatest demonstration of power in the world was when God created the heavens and earth (Genesis 1:1)

The greatest creation in the world is man who was made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).

The greatest book in the world is the Bible which is the inspired word of God (II Timothy 3:16).

The greatest need in the world is a relationship with God (Ephesians 3:14-19).

The greatest failure in the world was when man sinned and was severed from relationship with God (Romans 3:10; 3:23; 5:12).

The greatest sacrifice in the world was when Christ died for our sins on the cross (John 3:16). (Jesus Christ is the perfect, virgin born Son of God who became man and died as our substitute. There is no other way for our sins to be forgiven except through His sacrifice. Hebrews 9:22; 27).

The greatest surprise in the world is that God loves people even though they have sinned (Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:8-9). (The biblical word for this is grace. In grace God's love reaches out to people who don't deserve it and that is the only hope any person has to be saved.)

The greatest tragedy in the world is to die without a relationship with God and be condemned to eternal punishment banished from God's presence (Revelation 20:11-15).

The greatest response in the world is to come to God by faith-for without faith it is impossible to please God and have eternal life (Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 11:6).

The greatest change in the world is when a person is saved from sin and made a new creation in Christ (II Corinthians 5:17).

The greatest command in the world is to love God with all our heart, soul and mind (Matthew 22:37).

The greatest responsibility in the world is to share the love of God with the world (Matthew 28:19-20).

The greatest hope in the world is that Jesus is coming back again and all those who know Him as Lord and Savior will one day live in perfect peace and joy with God in heaven forever (Titus 2:13; Revelation 21-22).
